History

The Wangaratta Cinema Centre opened in November 1995 in response to the desire of the public of Wangaratta to have an up-to-date entertainment complex of their own. Initially comprising three screens, the tremendous support of our customers convinced us to add an extra screen to the complex in 1999 thus enabling a greater variety of product to be offered. The facilities provided by the cinema are second to none in country Australia. "Cadmatic 2000" seating, Wall-to-Wall Screens in All Cinemas, QSC DCP 300 7.1 "Dolby" "surround sound" Processors, EV Speakers and Christie's 2220 Solaria Digital Projectors which all can run HFR (High Frame Rate) and two which can run 3D all combine to give our patrons a cinema experience only normally available in the larger city-based "multiplexes".

The Company is 100% Locally Owned by three shareholders whom have a keen interest in the Cinema industry with over 30 years of experience!

Unlike others we have the same equipment in every Cinema not just there Main Theater making sure every patron get the same experience no matter what cinema there in seeing the price is the same!

"The Projection Equipment"

We have the first of the new models "Christie Solaria DP2220 Series 2" and are the first installation of the (Series 2) in Australia.
All of our cinemas are equipped with these state of the art 4K projectors which also have HFR which can run 75 frames per second (the currecnt standard is 25 fames per second) this in simple terms gives three times the picture Quality.

Also we have Satelite capabilities as well for those special events.
Just to make sure ebveryone is covered we also are only one of two cinemas to still have two fully operational 35mm Film Projectiors (incase anyone would still like to run an old 35mm print)
Or course 3D is already taking movies and the theater experience to new and exciting levels, both with the incredible images the projectors can deliver and the creativity that the new tools allow. The Solaria Series incorporates Christie's Brilliant 3 DTM (full 2K resolution triple flash) technology for the most realistic and brightest 3D presentations and is the leader in the market.

Features of the CP2220

Achieving over 18,500 lumens with just a 3kW lamp, the Series 2 CP2220 is the new workhorse of the industry providing patrons with the best picture to date for any size auditoriums world wide!
The CP2220 is built on proven and reliable 1.2" 2K DLP Cinema chip technology, featuring a contrast ratio greater than 2000:1 and reproducing 35.2 trillion colors.
