Gheorghiu plays the kept woman who gambles on true love, and Alagna is the man who makes her question the cost of her glittering existence. Nicolas Joël directs the new production of this gorgeously melodic look at love.

Salute Petra, Celebrating The Life Of Luciano Pavarotti, was an incredible tribute weekend that took place in the world heritage site of Petra, Jordan. The combination of inimitable and mesmerising settings, with performances from some of the worlds most respected and revered musicians made it one of the musical events of the decade, and set the precedent for more cultural events coming to Jordan.

This extraordinary event has been immortalised in high definition and surround sound.The World Premiere in London in , Leicester Square on 1st December, that will be hosted by Nicoletta Mantovani Pavarotti Luciano’s widow and Harvey Goldsmith CBE, event producer and promoter of Pavarotti for 23 years. Public viewings will be on 2nd December, with an extended run at VUE Cinemas in January across the country.

The Event shows all of the performances from this unique event, with extra footage from the Memorial Service and other back stage activities including exclusive interviews. Some Proceeds will go to UNHCS World Food Programme, a charity Pavarotti worked tirelessly for as a UN Messenger of Peace.

About The Event:

The event was spread over weekend of 11th and 12th October, and was the brainchild of Nicoletta Mantovani Pavarotti and HRH Princess Haya of Jordan. The first celebration was on Saturday evening with a Memorial ceremony at one of the new Seven Wonders Of The World, The Treasury. The site, which is thought to have been constructed in the first century BC, was the perfect picturesque setting for artists from around the world, including Sting and Bono, to give heart warming and emotional tributes about Pavarotti.

Sunday 12th October would have been Luciano Pavarotti’s birthday, and this was celebrated in style at the Amareen Camp, Petra. The Jordanian Royal Family were joined by personally invited guests of Harvey Goldsmith CBE, that included designer Jasper Conran, Arsenal FC majority share holder Danny Fiszman, and legendary media mogul Sir Jocelyn Stevens amongst others.

The exclusive audience of 500 were enthralled by the extraordinary line up that included artists that had performed with Pavarotti throughout his career.

World renowned flutist Andrea Griminelli performed ‘Czarda’ and ‘The Mission’ beautifully, and collaborated with 13 year old violin sensation Aleem Kandour.

Plácido Domingo and José Carreras, who famously performed with Pavarotti as the Three Tenors for more than 17 years, sang together for the first time since his passing.

Sting performed two of his own songs as well as ‘La Ci Darem’ from Don Giovanni in Italian with Angela Gheorghiu, the first time the pair have performed a duet together.

Andrea Bocelli’s voice resonated around the natural amphitheatre with a spine tingling performance of ‘E Lucevan Le Stelle’ from Tosca. The quartet of Angela Gheorghiu, Andrea Bocelli, Cynthia Lawrence and Sherrill Milnes performed a powerful rendition of Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’.

Jovanotti and Laura Pausini captivated the exclusive 500 strong audience with the heart felt and memorising performance of ‘Caruso’, and all performances were backed by the sublime Prague Philharmonia Orchestra.

With the use of the original video taken of the Pavarotti and Zucchero’s version of ‘Miserere’, they once again performed a duet full of emotion and passion.

The Amareen Camp not only proved to be a natural amphitheatre that embraced the ore inspiring sounds coming from the stage, but the mountains and unique terrain that surrounded the open air venue brought a visual beauty that bestowed the nature of an amazing and historic night.
